I’m headed to LA this week to host a wine tasting at the first annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Weekend.
THE SKINNY | The four-day epicurean event, created by hospitality entrepreneurs and founders of the Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival, Robert Weakley and David Alan Bernahl of Coastal Luxury Management, together with dick clark productions (dcp) and AEG, promises to match celebrities from television, film, music and sport with celebrity chefs and epicurean personalities. Events will take place at LA Live complex, as well as locations throughout the city, including Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. More than 100 celebrity chefs will lead demonstrations, seminars, lunches, dinners, and dedicated after-hours events featuring tastings from over 300 international wineries.
New York City chefs participating in the citywide celebration include Daniel Boulud, Kenny Callaghan, Floyd Cardoz, Tom Colicchio, Scott Conant, Gina DePalma, Nathan Eckhaus, Claudia Fleming, Shawn Gawle, Michael Ginor, Kerry Heffernan, Daniel Holzman, Johnny Iuzzini, Stephen Lewandowski, Masaharu Morimoto, Francois Payard, Jonathan Waxman and Zac Young.
THE GIG | I’ll be hosting a wine tasting seminar on Friday morning, called: “Sip Like a Pro — Wines that Drink at Twice Their Price.”
THE WINES | These are the wines I plan to pour (barring any shipping snafus):
2007 Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo “Perbacco” (Langhe, Piemonte, Italy)

Sip Like a Pro:
Wines That Drink at Twice Their Price | Hosted By Anthony Giglio
Ever wonder what wine pros actually drink on their own time and dime? Ever feel like you’ve discovered a great wine value or conversely, feel like you overpaid for an over-hyped wine that didn’t deliver? Wine expert, journalist, author and educator Anthony Giglio will lead you through a tasting of the former: amazing wines that taste like you paid double for them. Learn the insiders’ tricks of the trade, the secrets of how varietal, vintage and vigneron converge to create value that has smarty-pants sommeliers whipping out their credit cards.

THE COST | $100.00
THE REST | I’ll be posting regularly throughout the weekend.
